Melissa JJ Moore is a Toronto based choreographer and producer.
JJ is originally from Burlington, Ontario, where she began her training. She then pursued her post secondary education at Ryerson University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Dance Performance. JJ took her creative skills to the TV and Film industry from the moment to she moved to Toronto.
She enjoyed many years as a commercial dancer contributing to TV shows and films, such as; The L.A. Complex, I, Martin Short Goes Home, Lost Girl, Silent Hill, Skins, The Strain, Bomb Girls, Much Music Video Awards, The Next Step as well as commercials, music videos and live events.
JJ’s love of choreography started at a young age. She choreographed her first official project at the age of 13 where she alone set a 40-person community holiday musical. Since then, she learned much about the industry acting as associate choreographer under Amy Wright with many projects, such as; The Next Step, IIFA, Lost Girl, Wingin It, The Town Christmas Forgot, Happy Town and many more. For 6 years JJ was the resident choreographer for St Andrew’s College, working under Broadway and West End director, William Scoular, choreographing many musicals such as; Spring Awakening, Grease, Lord of the Flies, A Chorus Line, Crazy For You as well as several original works.
Her most recent credits include choreographing 60 episodes of Family Channel’s hit show, Backstage. JJ not only choreographed for Backstage but also cast all dancers and supported the entire project as one of the show’s consulting producers for both season 1 & 2. She also recently co-choreographed with Roberto Campanella Hallmark’s, A Nutcracker Christmas with Amy Acker, Sasha Radetsky and dancers from the National Ballet of Canada.
JJ has earned the reputation of being strategically organized, delivering the creative team’s vision and offering the talent the support and the tools needed to achieve their best performance.
